About STC-India Education Initiative
This is the first time in the history of STC-India that the education team conducted ten awareness sessions on technical communication in a calendar year. All members of STC-India education team made all possible efforts to spread awareness about this profession. It was a unique experience and a challenging task too since less than 5% of students are actually aware of this profession. There were some lighter moments and some hard times too.
We travelled to four different states to conduct these events. Once, we had to travel for almost 18-20 hrs to reach college. On couple of occasions we conducted the session even on a working day. There were times when we had to make 100 of calls and meet college management repeatedly to convince them about the importance of this profession. Finally, I take this opportunity to personally thank all the speakers of companies like IBM, Candence, Agilent Technologies, Aricent, Righster, Safenet Technologies and others for sparing their valuable time for these sessions.
Key Numbers:
1. Number of events: 10 (maximum no. of events in a calendar year)
2. Participants: 3000+ (2700+ students, 300+ faculty members)
3. Maximum number of students in one event: 500+ (at IEC, Greater Noida)

Testimonials:
1. Principal – Dr. J S Parihar of Aditya College, “I can easily say that I’ve never attended such a useful and interactive seminar (for students) in last thirty five years. I was really surprised with comfort level displayed by the students and the faculty members in asking questions and replying back. I would like to recommend this seminar for all the colleges and make best use of the STC-India initiatives.”
2. Dr Himani Singh, “The seminar showed different ways to the students to understand various options available for them. For the first time, students had the opportunity to see the corporate interface which would help them to take right decisions regarding their job choice according to their skills and interests. Almost all the faculty members and students appreciated the way presentation was given by Rajeev sir. Now students are aware of this profession and know what skills are required to opt technical writing as a career.”Let’s work together to promote the “Technical Writing” profession in India.
