Yeni Camii (New Mosque), Eminönü The Yeni Cami, The New Mosque or Mosque of the Valide Sultan (Turkish: 'Yeni Cami, Yeni Valide Camii') is an Ottoman imperial mosque located in the Eminönü district of Istanbul, Turkey. It is situated on the Golden Horn at the southern end of the Galata Bridge. It is one of the best-known sights of Istanbul.The construction of the mosque first began in 1597 and completed in 1665 Yeni Camii (New Mosque), Eminönü Seed sellers in front of the New Mosque, Eminönü Galata Tower view from Eminönü German Fountain The German Fountain (Turkish: Alman Çeşmesi) is a gazebo styled fountain in Sultanahmet Square. It was constructed to commemorate the second anniversary of German Emperor Wilhelm II's visit to Istanbul in 1898. It was built in Germany, then transported piece by piece and assembled in its current site in 1900. The neo-Byzantine style fountain's octagonal dome has eight marble columns, and dome's interior is covered with golden mosaics. The walls of Istanbul The Walls of Constantinople are a series of defensive stone walls that have surrounded and protected the city of Constantinople, today modern Istanbul since its founding as the new capital of the Byzantine Empire by Constantine the Great. With numerous additions and modifications during their history, they were the last great fortification system of antiquity, and one of the most complex and elaborate systems ever built. Bozdogan Kemeri The Valens Aqueduct (Turkish: Bozdoğan Kemeri, meaning "Aqueduct of the grey falcon"; is a Roman aqueduct which was the major water-providing system of the Eastern Roman capital of Constantinople (modern Istanbul, Turkey). Completed by Roman Emperor Valens in the late 4th century AD, it was restored by several Ottoman Sultans, and is one of the most important landmarks of the city. Galata Tower The Galata Tower (Galata Kulesi in Turkish) called Christea Turris (the Tower of Christ in Latin) by the Genoese is a medieval stone tower in the Galata/Karaköy quarter of Istanbul, Turkey, just to the north of the Golden Horn. There is a restaurant and café on its upper floors which command a magnificent view of Istanbul and the Bosphorus. Also located on the upper floors is a night club which hosts a Turkish show. Galata Tower Details of the Galata Tower Ortaköy Mosque (Turkish: Ortaköy Camii), Officially the Büyük Mecidiye Camii (Grand Imperial Mosque of Sultan Abdülmecid) in Beşiktaş, Istanbul, Turkey, is situated at the waterside of the Ortaköy pier square, one of the most popular locations on the Bosphorus. The original Ortaköy Mosque was built in the 18th century. The current mosque, which was erected in its place, was ordered by the Ottoman Sultan Abdülmecid and built between 1854 and 1856.
