Christ University, formerly Christ College (Autonomous),
was established in July 1969. It became a sought after
educational institution in Bangalore within its first three
decades of existence. From 1990 onwards the institution
scaled new heights with the introduction of innovative
curricula, insistence on academic discipline and holistic
education supported by the dedicated staff. The University
Grants Commission declared the Institution a Deemed to be
University in July 2008.
Department of Management Studies, of Christ University
over the last two decades has striven to impart quality
education in management and create young professionals to
shoulder  challenges of the twenty first century India Inc.
Towards this objective the Department of Management
Studies conducts seminars and conferences to provide a
platform  to generate and disseminate knowledge. The first
national seminar was held in 2007. The first two national
conferences on Emerging Trends in Business (NCETB) were
held in 2011 and 2012. The third conference is scheduled for
28 and 29 January 2013. The NCETB aims to provide
academicians, professionals, corporate executives and
research scholars an opportunity to present their research
concepts and stimulate discussions on nascent areas on
emerging trends in the business world.
The Conference
India Inc. has successfully emerged as an entity in the global
economy. Meanwhile, business corporations across the
world are in the midst of major organizational
transformations to transcend corporate gains and instead
focus on broader goals of societal development and national
welfare. Corporations now realize the need to evolve into
good corporate citizens. This transformation of business
corporations involves numerous challenges in human
resources, finance, marketing, management and
administration. Given these realities this conference provides
a platform for research–oriented individuals to interact, and
promote business and social interests.
Areas of Interest
Today the five thrust areas for Indian economic managers
are to: curb inflation, sustain high economic growth, boost
the agricultural sector, improve industrial growth and
contain fiscal deficit. To work on these areas both the
corporate sector and the government need to take hard
decisions thereby reviving growth.
These issues related to fiscal adjustments and tax reforms, restructuring financial markets, attracting foreign and domestic
investments, besides rural participation in development therefore
merit attention. The conference attempts to provide a forum to
deliberate over macro and micro challenges to economic
growth. Research papers that broadly address the conference
theme and focus on management issues in all areas of business
namely: marketing, finance, human resource management and
general management would be relevant.
