Dear Colleague,

2nd International Conference on “International Marketing in Asia Pacific Issues and Challenges (ICIM) – 2013” is organized by GRD Institute of Management, GRD School Of International Business, Dr.GRD College Of Science, India, in association with the universities from US & UK, on 07th & 08th March at The Residency Hotel Coimbatore, India.

We invite papers for presentation and proposals for panel discussion related to the conference theme, "Globalization, Innovation, and Leadership", from scholars, business executives, professionals, and public policy makers. Every paper submitted should have a global /international orientation and must be scholarly in content. We welcome conceptual, theoretical and empirical papers, using qualitative and/or quantitative methodologies. Manuscripts submitted must be complete papers. Accepted papers will be published in an "International Edited Book" with an ISBN edited number.

Guidelines for Paper Submission:

Submit an electronic copy of the complete manuscript by 25th February 2013 to the Conference Chair. Unless specified below, guidelines and style for full paper preparation should follow those of the International Studies. Papers should be no more than 20 pages or 5,000 words in length, with an abstract of no more than 100 words. The Conference Chair must receive final revised manuscripts at the earliest. The author(s) must certify that the accepted paper is not copyrighted and has not been published elsewhere. Papers will be arranged for presentation and publication ONLY if at least one of the authors registers for the Conference by the registration deadline. An individual author may not appear on more than three papers.

It is important for teachers to get idea of how their students learn; what their students have already known; in what their students are not good enough or have misconceptions; what kind of instructional ways their students like and can learn more efficiently; and, what their students need to know at a particular moment. With the help of computational intelligence, ontology, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, text mining, and information retrieval, Smart Learning Environments (SLE) can be built to know the context of students, e.g., learning style, cognitive trait, competency model, behavior pattern, preference, need, and device, correctly and better by digging and analyzing variety of data. Furthermore, the SLE can then provide the students with personalized and adaptive learning services based on the discovered context. This workshop aims to provide a platform for researchers to know the latest relevant research progress; to share experiences; to discuss key issues; and at the end, to have opportunities to work together after this event.

* Outcomes of the workshop:
Extended versions of accepted papers will be published by Springer in a book "Emerging technologies in smart learning environment". This book will aim for a world in which change is not only a given but everywhere, and is proactively embraced; a world where the ability to manage change is seen as a distinct competitive advantage, and the learning marketplace is full of alternative models. The premise of this book will be that the world around us, the ways in which we live our everyday lives, the connections we make, the increasingly global community we live in - all of these are inexorably changing the ways we learn as well.

કૉમ્પ્યુટર વગરનું જીવન કેવું હોઈ શકે ?

મારી પાસે કૉમ્પ્યુટર નથી. એના વગર મારું કશુંય અટકતું નથી, મારે એ વસાવવું નથી. પરંતુ પ્રશ્નોત્તરી વિભાગ રિડિફ.કોમ શરૂ થયો ત્યારથી શીલા ભટ્ટ મને ઈન્ટરનેટ લેવા માટે આગ્રહ કરી રહ્યાં છે. મારે ઘરમાં માહિતીનું ગોડાઉન નથી જોઈતું. મારે તો માહિતીના વજન વગર હીંચકે બેસીને પ્રેમાનંદનું ‘નળાખ્યાન’ કે વાલ્મીકિનું ‘રામાયણ’ કે કાલીદાસનું ‘મેઘદૂત’ કે ભારવિનું ‘કિરાતાર્જુનિયમ’ કે ભવભૂતિનું ‘ઉત્તરરામચરિત’ કે શુદ્રકનું ‘મૃચ્છકટિકમ’ વાંચવું છે. કોમ્પ્યુટર સાથે જોડાયેલું ઈન્ટરનેટ મારાં ચરણોમાં દુનિયાભરની માહિતીનો ઢગલો ઠાલવી દે છે. કેવળ માહિતી તો ઘાસ જેવી છે. ઘાસ ખાવા માટે ગાય છે. માણસ તો એમાંથી બનેલું દુધ (જ્ઞાન) અને નવનીત (શાણપણ) પામવા માટે સર્જાયો છે. જો માહિતી ખાવાથી જ્ઞાની બનાતું હોત તો ઊધઈ સૌથી મોટી વિદ્વાન ગણાતી હોત. આટલું કહ્યા પછી કહેવાનું કે જો યોગ્ય વિનિયોગ થાય તો કૉમ્પ્યુટર આશીર્વાદ છે. હવે એના વગર નહીં ચાલે. દુનિયા ગામડું બની રહી છે. સરહદો અર્થહીન બની રહી છે. ઈન્ટરનેટ ઘણું આપી શકે તેમ છે. એની સામે એટલો લાંબો સમય ન બેસવું કે જીવન ખતમ થાય. કૉમ્પ્યુટર સાથે જડાઈ ગયેલા પતિની પત્નીને ‘કૉમ્પ્યુટર વિધવા’ કહે છે. કૉમ્પ્યુટર મિત્ર છે, પરંતુ એ તમારા માથા પર ચડી બેસે ત્યારે શત્રુ છે. બધો આધાર મારા–તમારા પર છે.
