શૌનકજીનો ધર્મરાજા યુધિષ્ઠિરને ઉપદેશ.......

જયારે પાંડવોએ બાર વર્ષના વનવાસમાં જવાની તૈયારી કરી ત્યારે ઘણા જ બ્રાહ્મણો પ્રેમવશ પાંડવોની પાસે આવ્યા હતા. તેમાં ધણા અગ્નિહોત્રી બ્રાહ્મણો પણ હતા.તે સમયે ધર્મરાજા યુધિષ્ઠિરે કહ્યું કેઃમહાત્માઓ !આ સમયે અમારુ રાજ્ય..લક્ષ્મી અને સર્વસ્વ શત્રુઓએ લુંટી લીધું છે.હવે અમે કંદમૂળોનુ ભોજન કરી ને વનમા નિવાસ કરીશુ.વનમા ગણા કષ્ટ પડશે,આપ પોતાના નિવાસ સ્થાને પધારો. અત્યારે અમારી પાસે ધન નથી તેથીલાચાર છીએ.ધર્મરાજ યુધિષ્ઠિરે આમ શોક પ્રગટ કર્યો અને ઉદાસ થઈને ભૂમિ ઉપર બેસી ગયો.આત્મજ્ઞાની શૌનકજીએ કહ્યું કે:-

        અજ્ઞાની મનુષ્યની સામે પ્રતિદિન સેકંડોઅને હજારો શોક તથા ભયના અવસર આવે છે,પરંતુ જ્ઞાનીઓનો જીવનમાં તેની અસર(પ્રભાવ)પડતો નથી.સત્પુરૂષો આવા અવસરોએ કર્મબંધનમાં પડતા નથી.જ્ઞાનીઓ ને કોઈપણ શારીરિક કે માનસિક દુ:ખ પ્રભાવિત કરી સક્તાં નથી. મહાત્માજનકજીએ જગત ને શારિરીક અને માનસીક દુ:ખોથી પીડિત જોઈને તેની શાંતિના માટે જેવાતો કહી તે આપ્રમાણે છે.

"શરીરનાં દુ:ખના ચાર કારણ છે:રોગ.. દુ:ખદ વસ્તુનો સ્પર્શઅધિક પરિશ્રમ તથા અભિલષિત વસ્તુ ન મળવી. આ નિમિત્તોથી મનમાં ચિંતાથાય છે.અને માનસિક દુ:ખ જ શારિરીક દુ:ખનું રૂપ ધારણ કરીલે છે.લોખંડનો ધગધગતો ગોળો જો પાણી ભરેલા ઘડામાં મૂકી દેવામાં આવેતો ઘડાનુ પાણી પણ ગરમ થઈ જાય છે, તેવી જરીતે માનસિક પીડાથી શરીર પણ વ્યથિત બની જાય છે,એટલા માટે જેમ પાણીથી અગ્નિને શાંત કરવામાં આવેછે,તેવી જ રીતે જ્ઞાનના ધ્વારા મનને શાંત રાખવુ જોઈએ.મનનું દુ:ખ દૂર થતાજ શરીરનું દુ:ખ પણ મટી જાય છે."

        મનના દુ:ખી થવાનું કારણ છે. ''સ્નેહ" સ્નેહના કારણેજ મનુષ્ય વિષય માં ફસાતો જાય છે. અને અનેક પ્રકારના દુ:ખ ભોગવેછે. સ્નેહના કારણે જ દુ:ખ.. ભય.. શોક.. વિગેરે..વિકારોની પ્રાપ્તિ થાય છે. સ્નેહના કારણે જ વિષયોની સત્તાનો અનુભવ છે અને ત્યારપછી તેનામાં"રાગ"આવી જાય છે.સ્નેહ એ વિષયચિંતન અને રાગથી પણ વધુ બળવાન છે.જીવનમાં થોડોઘણો રાગ પણ ધર્મ અને અધર્મનો સત્યાનાશ કરી દે છે. વિષયોના ના મળવાથી જે પોતાને ત્યાગે છે તેમ માને છે તે સાચા ત્યાગી છે.વાસ્તવમાં સાચો ત્યાગી નથી.વાસ્તવમાં સાચો ત્યાગી છે કે જે"વિષયોના મળવા છતા પણ તેમાં દોષદ્રષ્ટિ કરે છે અને તેનાથી દુર રહે છે.વિરકત પુરૂષ દ્રેષરહિત હોય છે,એટલા માટે તે ક્યારેય કર્મબંધનમાં બંધાતો નથી. જગતમાં મિત્ર અને ધનનો સંગ્રહ કરવો જ જોઈએ, પરંતુ તેનામા આસકિત ના રાખવી જોઈએ. વિચાર ના ધ્વારા જ સ્નેહ નો ત્યાગ થાય છે. જેવી રીતે કમલ ના પાન ઉપર પાણી નું બિદું રહી શકતું નથી, તેવી રીતે વિવેકી,ભગવત્પ્રાપ્તિ ઈચ્છુક અને આત્મજ્ઞાની પુરૂષના ચિત્તમાં સ્નેહ ટકતો નથી.વિષયના દર્શનથી તેમાં રમણીય બુધ્ધિ થાય છે,પછી પ્રિયતાની અનુભૂતિ થાય છે. અને તે ભોગવવાની ઈચ્છા થાય છે,તેની પ્રાપ્તિ થતા વારંવાર તેને પામવાની ત્રૂષ્ણા પેદા થાય છે,આ ત્રૂષ્ણા જ તમામ પાપોનું મૂળ છે,ઉદ્દેગની જનની છે.અને તે અધર્મ કરતાં પણ ભયંકર છે, મૂર્ખ માણસો તેનો ત્યાગ કરી શકતા નથી.માનવની વ્રૂધ્ધવસ્થા આવવા છંતા ત્રૂષ્ણા વ્રૂધ્ધ થતી નથી.તે શરીરની સાથે નાશ થનારી એક જાતની બિમારી છે.તેનો ત્યાગ કરવાથી જ સાચા સુખની પ્રાપ્તિ થાય છે.પ્રાણીઓના હદયમાં પ્રવેશ કરીને આ ત્રૂષ્ણા પોતાની જ આગથી તેનો નાશ કરી દે છે અને પોતે ક્યારેય નાશ પામતી નથી. જેવી રીતે ઈધન પોતાની જ આગથી ભસ્મ થઈ જાય છે, તેવી જ રીતે લોભી પુરૂષ સ્વાભાવિક લોભથી જ નષ્ટ થઈ જાય છે. જેવી રીતે પ્રાણીઓની ઉપર મ્રૂત્યુનો ભય હંમેશાં બનેલો રહે છે તેવી જ રીતે ધનવાન પુરૂષોને રાજા..જળ..અગ્નિ અને કુટુંબનો ભય હંમેશાં બનેલો રહે છે.જેવી રીતે માંસને આકાશમા પક્ષી,ભૂમી ઉપર હિંસક જીવ અને પાણીમાં મગરમચ્છ ખાઈ જાય છે,મૂર્ખાઓની તો વાત જ શું કરવાની મોટા મોટા બુધ્ધિમાનોના માટે પણ ધન એ અનર્થનું કારણ છે. તે ધનથી પ્રાપ્ત થનારાં ધુળોના માટે કર્મમાં લાગી જાય છે.અને પોતાનું પરમ કલ્યાણ કરવાથી વંચિત રહો જાય છે.

        તમામ પ્રકારનાં ધન,લોભ,મોહ,કંજૂસાઈ,ઘમંડ,ભય અને ઉદ્દેગ ને વધારનારાં છે.ધનને કમાવવામાં તેનું રક્ષણ કરવામાં અને વાપરવા માં પણ ઘણા દુ:ખ સહન કરવા પડે છે.ધનના માટે લોકો એકબીજાના પ્રાણ લેતાં પણ અચકાતા નથી. જો ધન આપણી પાસે ભેગુ થઈ જાય તો તે પાળેલા શત્રુ સમાન છે.તેને છોડવા નુ પણ કઠીન થઈ જાય છે. ધનની ચિંતા કરવી એતલે પોતાનો નાશ કરવો.તેનાથી અજ્ઞાની હંમેશાં અસંતુષ્ટ રહે છે અને જ્ઞાની હંમેશાં સંતુષ્ટ રહે છે.ભૂખ કયારેય મટતી નથી,તેના તરફથી મુખ ફેરવી લેવું એ જ પરમ સુખ છે.સાચો સંતોષ એ જ પરમશાંતિ છે.

        ધર્મરાજ ! યુવાની,સુંદરતા,અપાર ભૌતિક સંપતિ,ઐષ્વર્ય તથા પ્રિયવસ્તુ અને વ્યકિતઓનો સમાગમ આ તમામ અનિત્ય છે. બુધ્ધિમાન પુરૂષ તેને કયારેય ઈચ્છતા નથી. એટલા માટે યોગ્ય એ છે કે,તમામ પ્રકાર ના સંગ્રહ-પરિગ્રહનો પરિત્યાગ કરી દેવો.અને ત્યાગ કરવાના કારણે જે કંઈ કષ્ટ ઉઠાવવું પડે તે પ્રસન્નતા થી ઉઠાવવું. અત્યાર સુધી જગતમાં કોઈ પણ સંગ્રહી પોતાના સગ્રહના માટે ધર્માત્મા પુરૂષ તેવા મનુષ્યની જ પ્રસંસા કરે છે પ્રારબ્ધથી પ્રાપ્ત વસ્તુમાં જ સંતુષ્ટ છે.ધર્મ કરવા માટે પણ ધન કમાવવાની અપેક્ષાએ ન કમાવવાનું એ જ શ્રેષ્ઠ છે. જો છેલ્લે કીચડને ધોવો જ પડવાનો હોય તો પહેલા થી જ કીચડનો સ્પર્શ કેમ કરીએ?એટલા માટે કોઈપણ વસ્તુની ઈચ્છા જ ન કરો.જો આપ પોતાના ધર્મની ઉપર અટલ રહેવા ઈચ્છતા હો તો ધનની ઈચ્છા સર્વથા ત્યાગી દો..........
